FAQ

How do you get Flame Breathing in Slayers 2?
Reach level 25 as a human Slayer, farm 10 Demon Horns, unlock Wall Climb and Double Jump, then find Rengu on a rooftop near the long red bridge out of Mistfall Village. Finish his task chain, defeat the Flame Trainee, and buy the moves from the skill tree. The full route is on the Flame Breathing page.
How do you get Thunder Breathing in Slayers 2?
Reach level 25 as a human Slayer, farm 10 Demon Horns, unlock Wall Climb, then climb past the Obari boss area to Zentaro's high mountain plateau. Finish his task chain, defeat the Thunder Trainee, and buy the moves from the skill tree. The full route is on the Thunder Breathing page.
Should I get Flame or Thunder Breathing first in Slayers 2?
Pick Flame for PvE farming with the Rengoku clan behind it, and Thunder for fast-cast PvP duels, ideally with the Agatsuma clan. Both cost a reported 10 Demon Horns at level 25, so the farm is identical and the choice is about playstyle, not price.
How many Demon Horns do Flame and Thunder need together?
A reported 10 each, 20 total, both at level 25. No source confirms a Wen or Beast Core charge for either trainer, so read both dialogue boxes in game before you farm. The horn loops are compared on the Demon Horns and Beast Cores page.
Is Thunder or Flame better after the Slayers 2 balance patches?
Patch v0.98 buffed Flame twice and cut Thunder hard, then v0.110 partly restored Thunder's cast times and stuns. Post-patch lists rank Flame S and Thunder A. Flame is the PvE farm pick, Thunder the duelist pick, and neither patch changed the 10-horn entry cost.

Which style should you get first?

Flame for farming, Thunder for dueling. Both unlock at level 25 for a reported 10 Demon Horns, so the farm is identical and the decision is entirely about playstyle and clan pairing, not price.

Flame Breathing Thunder Breathing
Trainer Rengu, rooftop near the long red bridge out of Mistfall Village Zentaro, high mountain plateau past the Obari boss area
Reported cost Level 25, 10 Demon Horns Level 25, 10 Demon Horns, Wall Climb listed
Route skill Wall Climb and Double Jump, rooftop is vertical Wall Climb mandatory, final stretch is a climb
Identity Burn pressure, mid-range control, one counter Fastest casts, instant openers, burst finisher
Best clan Rengoku, the burn clan at Supreme rarity Agatsuma, the Thunder clan at Mythic rarity
v0.98 patch Buffed twice Nerfed hard
v0.110 patch Unchanged, burn ticks no longer trigger counters Partly restored, faster casts and longer stuns
Post-patch rank S tier A tier

If you already hold Rengoku, take Flame. If you already hold Agatsuma, take Thunder. If you hold neither, Flame is the safer first style because its farm value does not depend on winning duels. The per-style detail lives on the Flame Breathing page and the Thunder Breathing page; this page stays a comparison so the numbers exist in exactly one place each.

What do both unlocks share?

Level 25, a human Slayer character, roughly 10 Demon Horns each, a trainer task chain ending in a Trainee fight, and moves bought one by one from the skill tree. Demons cannot learn either style, since the demon path runs on Blood Demon Arts, so settle your faction before farming a single horn.

The shared prerequisites are Wall Climb and Double Jump from the mobility branch of the skill tree. Both trainers sit above ground level, Rengu on a roof and Zentaro on a summit, and both routes punish players who arrive without vertical movement. Bank skill points before you unlock, because none of the moves arrive with the style.

The shared farm is the Bamboo Grove waterfall cave, where Hoyuzo Subordinates drop one horn each on a short respawn loop, with Iceveil Valley High Demons as the higher-rate night alternative at the cost of cold damage. Both loops are compared in the Demon Horns and Beast Cores guide. If you are still climbing toward the level gate, the leveling guide covers the fastest quest chain to 25 and the beginner guide covers the first-hour setup.

Where is Rengu, the Flame trainer?

On a rooftop beside the long red bridge on the road out of Mistfall Village. Run from Bamboo Grove toward Mistfall Harbor, cross the suspension bridge and the water, climb the cliff past the Rengu boss area keeping the long red bridge in sight, then look up behind the main wooden house. Players who walk past at street level report that he does not exist, because he stands above head height on the smaller roof or eaves.

Two naming traps sit on this route. Rengu is also the name of the boss area you climb past, so the trainer and the encounter share a name but not a location. Rengu is also not Rengoku, which is a clan rather than an NPC. The full turn-by-turn route with the disputed alternative locations is on the Flame Breathing page, and the whole trainer pool is mapped on the breathing trainer locations page.

Where is Zentaro, the Thunder trainer?

On a flat high plateau at the top of the mountain route. Start from the bamboo village bridge, cross the river, pass the Obari boss area, then climb the large rock pillars and tree trunks to the summit. Four outlets describe the peak differently, so treat the climb as the reliable part rather than any single landmark name.

Wall Climb is explicitly listed as part of this unlock by two outlets, and the trainer is physically unreachable without it. That makes Thunder the stricter of the two routes: Flame wants the same movement skills but only one outlet chain ties them to the cost. The full climb description is on the Thunder Breathing page.

What does each trainer actually charge?

A reported 10 Demon Horns at level 25 each, the joint cheapest horn bill in the game. Three outlets agree on Flame’s 10 horns; two agree on Thunder’s, while a third lists only Wall Climb and omits the horns entirely. No source confirms a Wen or Beast Core charge for either trainer, so the dialogue box in front of you is the only number that settles it.

Requirement Flame, reported Thunder, reported
Level 25, shared gate for all eight styles 25, shared gate for all eight styles
Demon Horns 10, three outlets agree 10, two outlets agree, one omits it
Wen None reported No figure reported
Beast Cores None reported None reported
Movement Wall Climb and Double Jump expected Wall Climb listed, Double Jump expected

For calibration, these are genuinely cheap next to the rest of the pool: Water asks a reported 30 horns plus 5,000 Wen from Urokodaki, Wind asks 50 horns, and Serpent asks 20 horns plus 5 Beast Cores from Obari. The Serpent Breathing page and the Water Breathing page carry those bills, which is worth knowing before you commit your first 10 horns to the wrong style.

How did the patches change the two styles?

Patch v0.98 pushed them in opposite directions, and v0.110 only partly closed the gap. Flame received two buffs: Blazing Universe’s range rose from 35 to 45, and Flame Undulation’s counter was extended from basic attacks to skills. Thunder was cut hard: Rice Spirit lost its strict stun for a 0.3-second hold, God Speed fell from 80 to 50, and the finisher stun dropped from 1.5 to 1 second.

Patch v0.110 then restored part of Thunder: reportedly 20 percent faster casts on Thunder Clap and Flash and Rice Spirit, with stuns raised to 1.5 and 1.25 seconds, though those numbers come from a single outlet. Flame’s v0.110 change was systemic rather than personal: damage-over-time ticks no longer count as hits, so burn no longer consumes or triggers counter windows, which tightened Flame’s both-sides counter timing in duels.

The ranking fallout is consistent across outlets. Post-patch lists put Flame in S tier as a PvE-first style carried by its clan pairing, and Thunder in A tier as the duelist’s pick still living off its cast speed. Neither patch touched the entry costs, so a style’s rank never changes what you farm. The full per-patch breakdowns are on the update history page, and the style-vs-style ranking is the breathing styles tier list.

Which clan goes with which style?

Rengoku with Flame, Agatsuma with Thunder. Rengoku is the burn clan at Supreme rarity and a 0.1 percent roll: burn damage, burn-enhanced basic attacks, combo extension through Indomitable Will, and fire resistance. Agatsuma is the Thunder clan at Mythic rarity and 0.9 percent: marked-target damage amplification that only fires on Thunder abilities, plus a low-health bonus.

Both major clan lists agree on the conditional nature of these picks: Agatsuma is top tier only with Thunder, and Flame without Rengoku drops from a pairing to a style. Rolling specifically for either clan is expensive, a Supreme averages one in a thousand spins, so read the clan tier list for the full pool, the best clans for beginners for what is worth stopping on early, and the clan reroll guide for what each spin costs before you chase a name.

What is this page based on?

This page compares two documented unlocks rather than documenting new facts, and every number here is inherited from its source page. Flame costs, route and patch data come from the Flame Breathing page; Thunder costs, route and patch data from the Thunder Breathing page; Water, Wind, Stone and Serpent bills from the trainer locations table; clan odds and conditional rankings from the clan tier list. Cross-checked on 2026-09-27 against the v0.110 build. Where the source pages flag a disagreement, such as the outlet that omits Thunder’s horn cost, this page repeats the flag instead of resolving it.
