What is Ice Manipulation in Slayers 2?
Ice Manipulation is one of the nine Blood Demon Arts in Slayers 2 and the art associated with Douma. It trades single-target burst for the widest area coverage in the game plus Freeze, a control effect that holds enemies in place, so it clears groups at range in PvE and locks space down in duels.
All five of its abilities sit on Z, X, C, V and B, the standard slot layout every Blood Demon Art uses in this game. The category label changes depending on who is writing: the big outlets list it as a Blood Demon Art, while some community sites file the whole set under Evil Arts. It is the same skill line either way, and the balance picture on this page describes v0.110, the newest patch any of our sources covers.
The practical summary is that Ice is a zoning kit with a farming floor. You place effects that cover a wide patch of ground, the targets inside them stop moving, and everything else you own becomes easier to land while they are stuck. That is why it shows up in solo dungeon routes and in duel footage at the same time.
Is Ice Manipulation the same as Cryokinesis?
Yes. Cryokinesis and Ice Manipulation are one art with two names. The in-game title system calls it Cryokinesis, most tier lists and guides call it Ice Manipulation, and reaching maximum mastery with the art unlocks the Cryokinesis Perfected title regardless of which name you searched for.
This naming split is worth knowing because it costs people searches. If you are looking at a title list and see Cryokinesis Perfected, that is not a separate demon art you have not unlocked. It is the reward for reaching maximum mastery with the art that every tier list calls Ice. The mastery bonus these titles feed is grouped under a single label, Evil Art Damage Factor, for all nine arts, which is why the Cryokinesis wording shows up in title tables that never use the name Ice. Our titles guide explains how the title system and its bonuses work.
Two smaller naming quirks are also floating around. Some pages write the Z move as Wintry Icicles instead of Wintery Icicles, which is a one-site spelling difference rather than a different ability. And a few lists shorten the art to plain Ice, which is the same thing again.
What are Ice Manipulation’s five moves?
Five abilities are bound to Z, X, C, V and B. Z is Wintery Icicles, X is Cold White Princesses, C is Barren Hanging Garden, V is Freezing Cloud and B is Bodhisattva. Four to five independent outlets list exactly those names, which makes the move list the best-attested fact on this page.
| Key | Move | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Wintery Icicles | Marks an area on the ground and rains icicles down into it; casting it a second time detonates the ice under the targets for a follow-up hit |
| X | Cold White Princesses | Drops into a poised stance, teleports behind a nearby target, leaves an ice clone behind and binds the target while two lotus figures freeze them solid |
| C | Barren Hanging Garden | Fires a spiralling ice projectile that cuts through everything along its path and then bursts into a frost explosion |
| V | Freezing Cloud | Spins out of sight, returns as a freezing wind and, if an enemy is close, catches them from behind and slams them into the ground |
| B | Bodhisattva | Summons a giant ice Buddha that sheds its shell in a cold wave, then smashes the ground and drives explosive ice spikes forward |
Two of these have distance-dependent versions. Barren Hanging Garden and Freezing Cloud both change what they do based on how far you are standing from the target, and where you cast from decides which version comes out. That single rule is the difference between a clean clear and a wasted ability, so it is worth learning both ranges on ordinary mobs before you take the art into a raid.
The recast on Z is the other interaction people miss. The first cast is the setup, and the second cast is where the extra damage lives, which means the ability rewards holding your position for a beat instead of rolling straight into a new target.
No official keybind table exists for any of this. Ouw Productions publishes ability showcase videos rather than written move data, so every published list, including this one, is community documentation that happens to agree with itself five times over.
How does Ice Manipulation rank on the tier lists?
Every outlet we read on 2026-09-23 puts Ice Manipulation in S tier, and it is the only one of the nine arts that none of them ranks lower. Beebom, Destructoid and AllThings. How all place it at the top, with the rest of the field spread from A down to C.
| Outlet | Tier on 2026-09-23 | Page date | Why they place it there |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beebom | S | 2026-09-22 | Large area coverage combined with Freeze makes it their best PvE pick |
| Destructoid | S | Updated 2026-09-20 | A powerful move set carrying one of the best grabs in the game |
| AllThings.How | S | Updated 2026-09-19 | PvP grabs and dungeon AoE; S on their all-arts list as well |
| games.gg | S | Updated 2026-09-19 | Named the strongest overall pick at the time of writing |
| GrindNStrat | S | Page undated, snapshot around 2026-09-20 | Their current overall recommendation for demon players |
| Roonby | S | 2026-09-18 | S tier alongside Blood Manipulation |
The agreement is genuine, but it is agreement between editorial rankings rather than measurements. Each outlet scored the same kit against different content, which is why one table files Ice as a farming pick and another treats it as a duel pick. The section on farming and PvP below unpacks that split.
One timing note on the table. Destructoid’s entry was written before the balance patch that landed on 2026-09-21, and the outlet says so itself. The other lists were read after it. Since that patch never mentions Ice, the ranking survived it untouched, but a page that quotes Destructoid without the date is quoting a pre-patch snapshot. The Blood Demon Arts tier list is where Ice sits next to the other eight arts.
How do you unlock Ice Manipulation?
You have to be a demon first. Push reputation to -40, find Muzan at night, complete his quest line and drink his blood. After that, the art arrives either as a random drop from chests and bosses or by asking Muzan for power and spending a roll.
The full route, including the reputation grind and the Spider Lily collection step, is on our how to become a demon guide, so this page only covers what comes after. The community-documented chain runs Biwa Bell into Muzan’s domain, an Evil Art Orb, consuming that orb, a training quest, and then mastery work on the skill tree. The skill tree guide covers how points and resets work, and mastery is what eventually hands you the Cryokinesis Perfected title.
One reported wrinkle: some ultimate abilities are said to need a boss drop rather than mastery alone. That mechanism comes from a single outlet and no source lists which arts or which bosses are involved, so treat it as a possibility rather than a checklist item.
What is missing is more telling than what is known. No source we found documents an Ice-specific training quest, a material list, or a level gate for this art, so any page that hands you exact Ice requirements is filling a gap nobody has evidence for. Read your own skill tree instead.
If you end up with an art you do not want, Reset Evil Art is the documented exit. AllThings. How puts it at 2 Ores or 25 Robux from the Shop resets section. It clears the art and the skill tree progress attached to it without turning you back into a human.
Is Ice Manipulation better for farming or for PvP?
Both, and the outlets weight the two differently. Beebom calls it the best PvE art in the game because huge coverage plus Freeze clears dungeon rooms quickly. AllThings. How says it handles duels and clearing equally well. games.gg went further and called it the strongest pick overall.
For farming, the pattern is straightforward. You pull a group, drop a wide effect on it, and the pack stops moving while you work through it. Because the kit works at range, you spend less time repositioning and more time on cooldowns, which is exactly the property that makes a solo dungeon run feel smooth. A second Z cast on the same spot then turns the area into a damage window rather than just a slow.
In PvP the same tools become positional. Freeze decides who gets to move, so it is strongest when you are holding a doorway, protecting a teammate’s setup, or stopping someone from disengaging. X teleports you behind a target and leaves a clone, and Destructoid calls the grab attached to it one of the best in the game. Teams that fight in corridors and caves give Ice more to work with than open fields do.
The honest framing is that Ice is an all-rounder that leans on control. If you want one art that covers farming, dungeons and duels without a second investment, this is the pick the consensus points at.
What are Ice Manipulation’s weaknesses?
Its strength comes from controlling space, so players who prefer fast melee combos get less out of it. Beebom is the outlet that says this outright, and the rest of the field points the same direction. Spacing is a hard requirement, not a suggestion: Barren Hanging Garden and Freezing Cloud have distance-dependent versions.
Getting that distance wrong is the most common way to waste the art. GrindNStrat describes a wrong-range cast as burning a window, and a whiffed grab as leaving you exposed in the middle of a fight. Roonby, games.gg and UrGameTips all repeat the same idea in different words, so treat execution as the real skill ceiling here rather than raw damage.
Freeze itself also comes with an asterisk in PvP and boss content. Roonby warns that crowd control should not be assumed to work identically on every boss, and GrindNStrat notes that boss freeze resistance and exact recovery frames still need more testing. Our bosses and raids guide tracks what is documented on that front, which is not much.
Finally, there are no numbers to argue with. No outlet publishes Ice damage values, cooldowns or frame data, and the developers have not either, so any comparison of raw output between arts is guesswork dressed as math. What can be compared is coverage and control, and that is the ground this art wins on.
Which clans and weapons pair with Ice Manipulation?
Douma is the clan most sources pair with it. Speed and Reflex can pull you back to a clone you placed earlier and clear some stun or knockdown, while Extrasensory Perception adds defensive value. Shabana is the team option, pairing Core Detachment’s buff zone with Siblings Bond for grouped damage.
The caveat matters more than the recommendation. Those tricks are Douma clan abilities, not part of the Ice kit, so a player without the clan gets none of that safety net and has to solve defence some other way. One outlet adds that the clone can dodge three incoming attacks; no second source repeats that number, so treat it as a community report and check the clan panel in game. Our clan tier list covers where Douma sits and what the alternatives cost you.
On weapons, one community site claims a War Fan pairing that gives Ice counter-reset mechanics for defensive play. That claim is not repeated anywhere else we checked, and War Fan does not appear in any other source’s weapon discussion at all, so it belongs in the unverified column. If you find the interaction in game, the skill description on your own weapon is the authority.
Did the v0.110 patch change Ice Manipulation?
No. The v0.110 patch notes do not mention Ice Manipulation or any other Blood Demon Art. They cover block recharging even while stunned, a Thunder buff, a PvP rematch option and a fix that stops damage-over-time ticks from triggering a counter. The earlier v0.98 record does not list an Ice change either.
For context on that earlier patch, the published summary that outlets transcribed covers a Temari buff round, an adjustment to Dunk’s cancel behaviour and a change to Arrow projectile homing. Ice does not appear in it. The post-v0.98 tier table that floated around community channels did place Ice first in S, but that table was reproduced from a creator video rather than an official note, so it is a ranking rather than a patch entry.
One structural caveat applies to every patch claim about this game. There is no official changelog page. Ouw Productions posts notes in the official Discord, outlets transcribe them, and the version numbers occasionally disagree as a result, which is exactly why the 2026-09-21 patch is written as both v0.98 and v.09 depending on who you read. So when this page says v0.110 did not touch Ice, the precise claim is that no published record of it did. A silent change would leave no trace for anyone to find, including us. Patch-by-patch coverage lives in our update history.
What is this page based on?
This page is built from Community Verified sources: BloxInformer’s Ice Manipulation entry, Beebom, Destructoid, AllThings. How, games.gg, GrindNStrat and Roonby, all read and cross-checked on 2026-09-23. Where those outlets disagree, both readings are kept rather than merged into one, and single-source claims are named where they appear.
The move list is the strongest material here. Four to five independent outlets list the same five names on the same five keys, and BloxInformer’s per-key descriptions match what the others describe in prose, so the Z, X, C, V, B layout can be treated as settled. The tier placements are also broadly consistent, though each outlet is weighting different content, and Destructoid’s S predates the 2026-09-21 patch.
Everything thinner is flagged in place. Beebom’s weakness assessment is a single outlet. The three-dodge clone number comes from Roonby alone. The War Fan pairing appears on one community site and nowhere else. The boss-drop requirement for certain ultimates is a single-source mechanism with no list attached. The Reset Evil Art price comes from AllThings.How.
Two things are missing on purpose. There are no damage, cooldown or frame numbers on this page because no source, official or otherwise, publishes them; the developers release ability showcase videos instead of stat tables, which you can watch on the official Ouw Productions channel. And there are no draw odds or rarity claims, because the community tables that exist contradict each other and none of them is official.
One last conflict worth naming. A single SEO site publishes a completely different four-move Ice set, with names that share nothing with the five above. Six other outlets agree with each other and not with it, so this page does not use it, and you should not treat it as an alternate build. If a future patch renames anything, the game’s own skill tree will show it before any list does. For the broader ranking context, see the Blood Demon Arts tier list, and for the route into the art itself, start with how to become a demon.
